A unique learning environment

Welcome to Polwhele House

At Polwhele House we believe that children deserve far more than just a good education. Our school is set in a safe and beautiful 30 acre site on the outskirts of Truro, giving the advantages of learning in both the countryside and the city. This location means that we can deliver a unique curriculum embracing indoor and outdoor education and enhancing every aspect of each child’s life experiences.

Hilary Mann, Head

We aim to develop responsible, compassionate, dynamic individuals, with secure confidence in their own personal strength and a determination to develop their talents and passions.

Our staff are experienced professionals who believe that the needs of each child must be met both in the classroom and outside. Children have the opportunity to extend their learning, play sport both in-house and against other schools, take part in performances and pursue their interests. Those with a particular ability in the Performing Arts or Equestrianism can develop these skills and even become a Polwhele House Scholar, spending additional time refining their skills and expertise within the school day.

OPEN DAY – 21ST MAY 2022

We know that children grow here. There is a special energy and atmosphere to this place which creates happy, positive and vibrant young people, eager to learn and excited for life. If you’re eager to find out more about our Open Day, please register your interest with the office and we look forward to seeing more of you and your family on the day. You will be welcomed at any time from 10am onwards and we will be closing at 12pm

KARENZA SCHOLARSHIP

To celebrate 40 years of Polwhele House education, we are launching the Karenza Scholarships for academic excellence. The scholarship programme is designed to promote academic excellence whilst leaning on the school’s founding principle of Karenza Whelas Karenza, or Love Begets Love and is inspired by our nurturing environment where children grow through kindness and care towards each other at every stage of their time with us. Karenza Scholars will be within the first cohort at Polwhele House to take GCSE exams at the end of Year 11, working alongside our current pupils.

Performing arts

To support talented young performers in the region, the school, in partnership with ‘Jason Thomas Performing Arts’ offers performing arts scholarships annually from September of each year.

Outdoor learning

Polwhele House is set within 30 acres including woodland, playing fields, our walled garden plus greenhouses for the children to explore and receive a unique learning experience.

Equestrian

At Polwhele House we have a wonderful riding school with excellent facilities where we can offer riding lessons and equestrian events for all children of any age or ability. Children can start riding from the age of three on small, steady ponies and progress all the way to competing in our own dressage, show jumping and gymkhana events.
