Vacancy for a School Administrator  
Start date 7th January 2020.

Polwhele House School is seeking a positive, organised, efficient and caring School Administrator who will embody our ethos and aims.  Being the ‘face’ of the school, the ideal candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to be flexible and work within a team and the school community in supporting Parents, Teachers and members of Staff.

Main duties include:

  • School Admissions
  • General administrative duties associated with the running of a small independent school
  • Keeping the Head’s diary and managing her appointments
  • Helping and supporting pupils, parents and staff as appropriate
  • To be aware of and work in accordance with the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures, and to raise any concerns relating to such procedures which may be noted during the course of duty.
  • To be aware of confidential issues linked to home/pupils/teachers/school and to ensure the confidentiality of such sensitive information.

Working hours, equivalent to 0.73 of a full-time position:

8.00 am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday, term time only (35 hours per week) includes 30 minutes lunch break.

A total of 17 days, 8.00am – 4.00pm or equivalent, some of which must be at the start and end of terms.  Four weeks holiday, to be agreed with the Head.

Salary:  £17,000-£18,000 full time equivalent, to be pro-rata’d depending upon experience

The post holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom she/he is responsible or with whom she/he comes into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the school’s safeguarding policy statement at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the post the post holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the school, she/he must report any concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
